If you aren’t familiar with DC based soul garage band, Black Alley, you should probably get familiar. No seriously they are incredible. The members of Black Alley are an eclectic group of musicians based in DC that incorporate a plethora of musical genres, including DC’s very own “go-go”, into their music. They perform covers of popular songs on the radio like Fun’s “We Are Young” and also have original songs like “Heavy Hitters” that make you sing along, dance, bob your head, and enjoy a great show. In March, Black Alley debuted a street album called Soul. Swagger. Rock. Sneakers. the four elements that embody what the band represents. This past weekend, TCMA was able to sit down and chat with the band about who they are and the recent loss of go-go music legend Chuck Brown, a huge inspiration for their music. It was such a pleasure meeting Black Alley and TCMA was also able to get some footage of their performance that same evening. Watch below!
